AVA 1Feb. 22nd and 23rd saw the 15U girls enter their first VA tournament of the season. This was a southern Alberta seeding tournament, so the team knew the pressure they faced to be placed in division one.

With relative ease, the team cruised through their pool play on way to a first place finish in their pool. This thankfully earned them an earlier crossover match. Having already played a Queens team in their pool play, they knew they were in for a tougher match from the Queens A side. The 15U’s were able to clutch up when it counted, taking two straight sets each being at 16-16 during the games. An exceptional performance from outside attacker Ally Bymak (12 straight kills) helped ensure the team moved on to the top side of draw.

Sunday morning did not treat the team quite as well. They lost a very tough match in three to the southern Alberta Panthers who played a very controlled match. The team was able to recover……eventually.  They dropped the first set to Canuck Fierce in their following match, but regained their composure in time to make a great second set effort. This was highlighted by middle blocker Britnee Litzenberger serving 7 aces to finish out the set. The third set was highly contended by both teams, and fought down to a 15-13 win for the 403 Selects. This set was again captured through clutch serving and good team defense.

Looking forward to VAT Premier # 2!
