403 Selects is happy to announce Nick Davies as the club’s Head of Athlete Development & Recruiting for the 2020 season and beyond.

Nick will play a lead role in the ongoing advancement of technical/skill development for all 403 Selects athletes.

It will be his primary focus to design, oversee, and provide technical leadership for all athletes within the club. Nick will work with athletes and coaches to continuously find areas to improve our teams. Nick will provide indoor (& beach if applicable) coaching as well as mindfulness & mental training.

Athletes can look forward to increased development through:

– On-court training
– Off-court volleyball IQ
– Video analysis

He will also be the lead resource on for 403 athletes in their journey to post-secondary. This will include:

– How to contact coaches/programs
– Finding programs that are the best fit
– Creating a recruitment or ‘highlight video’
– Ongoing 360 degree physical/skill assessment to determine strengths/areas for improvement

He will oversee club programs, player development and provide general volleyball knowledge and guidance for the club. He has been scheduled to work with all teams this season so everyone can benefit from his volleyball experience, passion and enthusiasm.

Nick has been involved with the sport of volleyball for the last 17 years as an athlete, coach, referee & volunteer. Nick’s coaching philosophy involves connecting with student-athletes before guiding them into becoming well-rounded people. He brings extensive technical & tactical coaching knowledge drawn from post-secondary, club and Volleyball Canada’s regional excellence program.

Nick played volleyball through club, finishing with four years in the ACAC. In 2010, he was a member of the SAIT Trojans team that won the program’s first ACAC Championship in 25 years. In his final season, he was named captain and finalist for Trojans Male Athlete of the Year. He finished his post-secondary career in the top 20 for all time conference digs playing as a leftside, libero and setter. Nick’s younger brother is the all-time dig leader for Brandon University Bobcats and currently plays on the Senior Men’s National Team.

This is Nick’s fourth season with 403 Selects as a coach and has been serving as a member of the club’s Executive Board since 2016.
