Mia Dragicevic is headed to the University of Ottawa this fall to suit up as setter for the women’s volleyball team. She will study International Development and Globalization.

She recently capped off a club career that demonstrated exceptional loyalty as she was a member of 403 Selects from 13U through graduation at 18U.

Mia was a great teammate and candidate for the club’s Purple Heart Award every season. She even went above and beyond to write welcome letters to incoming 13U athletes to the club.

Wishing Mia the best in her post-secondary journey and beyond!

” The Gee-Gees women’s volleyball team has recently added Mia Dragicevic of Calgary to its stable of setters. Dragicevic currently plays for the 403 Selects volleyball club as team captain and is finishing up her last year as President on her student council at St. Francis High School. Mia will be studying International Development and Globalization at uOttawa this upcoming fall.

Mia is looking forward to experience life in Ottawa as a Gee-Gee. “I’m excited to come and try a new half of the country and to see what it’s like to live over here. I think Ottawa is completely different from Calgary so it will be fun to see.” Academically, uOttawa sparked Mia’s interest because it is Canada’s capital city and it seemed like “a good hub for international organizations and corporations.”

The new recruit will compliment third-year setter Emily Lenton who will step into the starter’s role this year following the graduation of veteran setter Kira Tome.

With eight years of experience under her belt, the 5-foot-6 inch Dragicevic is slightly on the shorter side but makes sure her presence on the court is felt. Gee-Gees head coach Lionel Woods believes Mia will be a great fit to the personality of the team. “She is a quick, chase down setter who is vocal and full of positive energy which fits perfectly into our atmosphere.”

After a few days of visiting with the team Mia feels very welcomed and is eager to work hard and excel in the upcoming volleyball season. “I’m super excited to learn from all the veterans on the team. They have high expectations of each other and themselves so I’m really excited to be held to a higher standard and to work hard as a team to improve.”
