IMG_4150On Thursday February 13, the 403 selects 15U and 16U girls volleyball teams ventured to San Jose, California to compete in the annual Presidents’

Day tournament. At this tournament, both teams competed against high level American teams. While participating in the tournament, the 16U team under the leadership of Carsten Stanjeck and Darren Perrizolo played hard and finished in the top third of the tournament, an accomplishment they are very proud of.

Some of the most memorable moments of the eventful weekend were the visits to the California coast, sightseeing the San Francisco Bay and of course, shopping! One of the most unique experiences of the trip was the opportunity to tour Stanford University and meet the amazing student athletes and coaches of this division one team. It was an amazing opportunity to meet the athletes, see their locker room as well as to watch them live in action on the court. Another experience that was presented to us was the ability to participate in the AVCA Combine. In this combine, athletes of all ages were tested on speed, agility, vertical and hit force. As a club, our athletes achieved great results. Two athletes, Devin Corah and Katrina Wittenberg, finished as the top two ranked outside hitters in the combine. All together, the weekend was very successful in creating a strongly bonded team, playing tons of volleyball and learning a lot about our neighbors down south. We would like to thank our parents our club and our coaches for giving us the chance to have this amazing experience.
