_1DS2971The first weekend in March can only mean one thing  – a road trip to Edmonton for the first VA tournament of the year. And what a start to the VA season it was for the team as they battled hard to a top four finish.  The round robin started with an early morning win against TSA Elite. Their second match against Ardrossan Eclipse was tougher, with a tight 25-23 win in the first set. In set two, the girls quickly got down 0-3 and coach Elise, sensing a change in momentum, called a great time out to settle the girls. They never looked back and went on to win the second set 25-15, and to finish day one undefeated to finish first in their pool. The time out was the TSN turning point of the day, which ended with smiles and high fives all around! Day two presented their first real challenge with a game against the Lady Rhinos. After losing the first game 20-25, the girls played their best v-ball yet to take the second game 26-24. With parents aging by the minute at court side, the girls played hard to a 15-12 win in the third set – well done girls! The girls played some amazing ball in their final two games but came up short. They placed fourth in the tournament after a hard fought bronze medal game; losing 15-13 in the third set. No doubt the girls played hard and had a ton of fun. Everyone now has their sights on preparing to return to Edmonton for Provincials. Thanks to our great coaches Elise, Ben and Kristina, and our squad of cheering parents!
