Day One

13U 403 Selects worked hard all weekend to move up and their hard work and determination definitely paid off. Their first Match vs. DCVC was exciting as the girls demonstrated determination and hustle. They lost Set 1 20-25 but worked hard in Set 2 coming back from 6-15 to catch up with some solid serves and movement at the net. Their loss of 25-20 helped spur on their work for the rest of the tournament. They lost Set 3 15-4 but were ready for the next Match.  Match 2 vs. Fog was so exciting! Losing Set 1 16-25 did not slow them down. They came into Set 2 with fierce determination and won 25-10. Demonstrating amazing teamwork, they also won Set 3 16-14, effectively winning their first Match of the weekend. Their cross-over match vs. Sylvan Lake saw 403 play some great volleyball. They had good energy, working hard to not let a ball drop. They beat Sylvan Lake 25-19 and 25-21, finishing off Day 1 play on a good note.

Day Two

403 Selects played some tough teams on Sunday. Feeling a little sluggish from playing so much, they battled with their serves and lost 20-25 and 22-25. In their second match of the day vs. CAQVC, they were working hard but had trouble keeping up with the ball coming back so quickly. They lost 19-25 and 19-25 with the sets mirroring each other both in score and in play. Having lost that match, they finished 8th in Division 3.

Final Thoughts

It is noticeable that the Selects are serving better and learning some quick footwork. 403 is trying to anticipate the play more and start moving back to approach their hits. Thank you to all of the coaches and volunteers who worked so hard this weekend. Thank you to Saville Center for hosting us.
