The third and final VA Premier Tournament was held April 2-3 in Calgary. Our U18’s took opportunity of this final warm-up before provincials and rewarded fans with some great volleyball. On Saturday they won pool B with tough competition from U18 Cougars, U18 Vikings and dropped a match to Canuck U18. Late on Saturday the team took the cross over game from St Paul Rage to move into the quarter-finals on Sunday morning. They dispatched of the tough serving and defensive machines of East Kootenay (U18 EKVC) in two to move on to the semi-finals where they met the U17 Dinos. The U17 Dinos team had just upset the U18 Pandas team and were ready for battle. Once again our team came out victorious in straight sets to set up a gold medal match against the powerhouse U18 Dinos. It was a hard fought match with our 403’s eventually succumbing in the third set to give the gold to the Dinos. A strong showing, which will hopefully give our girls lots of momentum heading into provincials April 23-24 in Calgary.
