It was show time this past weekend at the Genesis Centre in Calgary as the top U18 teams across Alberta gathered for the premier Division 1 event of the year – the provincial championships. Our 403 girls were slotted in the top pool thanks to their silver medal at AVA #3 and faced the eventual gold and silver medalists in pool play finishing with a one and two record by defeating the MRU Cougars. They easily won their crossover Saturday afternoon against the Red Deer Queens and in an epic and tough fought match dispatched of SAS Sunday morning to move into the semi-finals. Once again they faced their nemesis the Junior DINOS. The DINOS were relentless and had almost no errors keeping our girls on their heels all match long. Our girls fell two sets straight. This set up an exciting bronze medal game against Canuck. Canuck won the first set 25-21 before our girls came charging back winning the second set 25-21 and eventually prevailed the deciding set 15-12. Debbie Nyarko was named to the All Star team of the Provincial tournament. The provincial bronze medal is a solid accomplishment for our girls and they now look forward to The Volleyball Canada Nationals May 5-8 in Edmonton.

Well Done Ladies!
