The U17’s spent a competitive and fun-filled week-end in Leduc demonstrating their prowess against the best of the best in the Spike it Hot women’s tournament.

The youngest team by far, the 403 Selects held their own against teams sporting considerable might and experience. It was a tournament chalk-full of mature players, many boasting provincial and national team experience.

The girls gathered steam and momentum during the first two matches, their efforts peaking in a solid win in the cross-over match: a feat which catapulted them into the semi-finals – drawing smiles and cheers from the girls, their parents and of course, their coaches.

But it wasn’t all fierce competition – there was time to bond and giggle with a pajama and pizza party at the hotel. A great time was had by all.

– A special thank you to Santi’s UN team who were amazing mentors and role models for the girls all weekend. The two teams supported one another when they weren’t on court making for an experience the 17U team will cherish.
