“Volleyball down in the states is going great! We practice everyday from 1-3 and on Monday Wednesday Fridays we lift from 4-5. When we first started training in August we would have 2-3 practices a day including individual position practices. Being part of a college team requires community work so before our season started we helped out at habitat for humanity building a house and we also went to a boys and girls club and played with the kids there for an afternoon. During September we had most of our preseason tournaments away from home, so for the first 5 weeks we were constantly on the road traveling toUtahandTwin FallsIdaho. We won theSpokaneFallsCommunity Collegetournament and have been getting better with every game we play. Our league play started at the end of September inSaltLakewhere we had a close game that ended in a fifth set loss. Since then though we haven’t lost a match and are currently first in our conference after beating Salt Lake yesterday in another close fifth set match. We haven’t had to travel anywhere yet in October and have been playing at home in front of our school, which has helped us go undefeated at home. Our record so far is 18-7 and 5-1 in conference. I am the starting right side for my team. Right side is a lot easier on my knees and it allows me to use my height against the other teams big outside hitters and I love it.” – Shelby
