17U 403 posted a fantastic record of 6-1 this weekend competing amongst the best teams in the province at the final VA tournament of the season.  The team began their day with a commanding win over a previously un-played SPVC Blizzard team, who were unable to contain a powerfully offensive and driven 403 team.  Firing on all cylinders, the girls were able to keep the momentum going and defeated SAS Valour in 3 before meeting the MRU Cougars in the last match of the round robin.  Expecting a tough match, 403 powered through the Mount Royal team outlasting the aggressive Cougars to clinch first place in their pool.  17U finished the day with a convincing win over Peak in the crossover match, assuring a top 8 ranking.

Sunday began with an exciting and stressful quarterfinal match against Canuck 17.  Composed of incredible rallies, heroic digs and booming hits on both sides of the court, 403 suffered their only defeat of the tournament.  With medals off the table, the team refocused with a new goal to claim 5th, rallying to earn a better berth heading into Nationals.  Meeting up against EKVC out of Cranbrook, 403 chalked up another win sending them to an intense rematch against the strong MRU team. Requiring 3 games, 403 was able to come from behind to defeat the powerful Cougars, claiming 5th place overall in the Province.  Congratulations ladies and thank you for an incredible weekend of volleyball, we are all looking forward to Nationals!

Once again, thank you to the coaches for all of their time and effort and to the fans that cheered tirelessly from the stands!
