The 18U girls did not disappoint as they debuted in the first provincial VA tournament of the year. Facing off against a new look LVC 18 team, the girls took their season opener, winning in 3, setting the tone for the day.(25-20, 28-30, 15-8) Closing off pool play with a commanding 2 set win over TSAVC (25-7, 25-14), the stage was set for a phenomenal cross over match versus SLVC 18. Bringing heroic digs, epic rallies, phenomenal blocks and an arsenal of booming hits, the 18’s left it all on the court, much to the delight of their adoring fans. Winning the crucial crossover in two games secured 403 a top 8 finish and an all-important Division 1 placement for VA#2.

Day 2 began with a quarterfinal showdown against the 17 U Dinos. After a shaky start, the girls settled their nerves and came out in set 2 with ‘guns a blazing’, hitting with authority and shutting down the strong Dino attack, forcing a 3 rd set. Coming back from an early 11-6 deficit and refusing to roll over, the 18 U’s rallied back forcing the Dinos to earn every point of their 16-14 win. As disappointing as the loss was, the team played with heart, grit and determination and provided onlookers with another amazing match. A clash with SAVC Storm was next on the bill providing another nail biting 3 set match, ultimately falling 15-12, leaving the Selects tied for 7th overall.

A huge thank you to the coaches for choosing to spend time with their 403 family, the score keeper volunteers and to the parents and fans in the stands for their ongoing support and encouragement.
