In an exciting weekend in Calgary, the U18 team competed in the first of three AVA tournaments.  In early Round Robin play the team was able to assert their dominance on the court by finishing first in their pool.  Following pool play the team took on the U18 Canuck team to triumphantly advance to the round of 16. In a thrilling early morning match on Sunday, the 403 ladies took on Canada West Dinos Gold to win in 3 sets by only 3 points. At one point in the third match against the Dinos they  were down 8-11, but in true 403 fashion a high level of composure and focus was displayed, which ultimately helped them to take the match. After a tough loss to the Jags Volleyball Club in quarterfinals, the 18’s went on to finish 7th overall after a close loss to the Panadas.

“I am very happy with the overall performance of the team. We played some great ball, particularly against the Canada West Dinos. They are a great team and we had to reduce our errors in order to be successful. We have a couple of things to address going into the next AVA, but I am confident that if the girls keep working diligently in practice they will continue to see success.”

Along with the U17 team the 18’s will head toEdmontonon March 24 to compete in AVA #2.
