This past Saturday, the 15U 403 Selects participated in the 2017 LVC 15/16U Tournament in Lethbridge. The 12 team tournament consisted of strong 16U squads from LVC, Ace, SEAVC, and Vulcan, a field of powerful 15U teams from LVC, Brooks, and Panthers, as well as our own 403 Selects 14U’s too. The well paired competitive play made for longer matches and the girls transcended in the areas of tournament stamina and mental toughness. They were focused and consistent, cranking out exciting offence, committed defence, and outstanding serve runs.

403 15’s won every game in their pool play and stretched a run of 10 consecutive set wins to earn a bye straight to the semi finals. The matchup against 16U Ace of Clubs Black was some of the best volleyball of the day from our girls, but this was a well earned three set victory by the impressive Brayden Wolkowski team. A tip of the hat to the worthy eventual champions and their impressive setter and attackers. In the battle for bronze, the 403 Selects 15’s regained their stride and beat 16U LVC Royals, who also managed to top their pool. The whole day tested the mental and physical resolve of our girls, playing 16 sets of volleyball in one day.

The team was short-handed, but the pressure put on the 403 Selects 15’s forged a harder group.

Thank you to the LVC club for putting on an outstanding tournament in such a wonderful facility.
