The 14Us headed out to Canmore Saturday for a six team tournament. This was a final chance to get in some game play before the upcoming VA Provincials. Coach Corey had some specific game play skills he wanted the girls to work on, and they quickly got to work with a two set win (25-17, 25-14) against ACVC Reign Royal. Their second pool match was against Canada West Black and again saw the Selects come through with a solid two set match win (25-13, 25-16). With a top place finish in Pool B under their belt, the team and parents headed off for lunch in Canmore; a great chance for the girls to hang out, and for parents (OK, mostly dads) to catch on some Master’s golf watching. The girls’ semifinal match in the afternoon was once again vs ACVC Reign Royal. With both lines playing solid volleyball and anchored by tough serving, the Selects took the match in two sets (25-13, 25-13). The final was a rematch against Canada West Black. Hungry for revenge, CW Black played a solid match, but the Selects again came out on top to win the Gold (25-13, 25-21). This was a great day of volleyball in a beautiful Rocky Mountain setting. Well done girls and good luck with your final week of practice before Provincials. We’re all proud of your progress.
