14U Girls – 2018



Kari Acheson

This will be Kari’s fourth season coaching with 403 and she is very excited to be working with the 14u group this year!
Kari was with the club throughout the majority of her club volleyball career and continues to be a dedicated member of the 403 family. Kari played post secondary volleyball with the MacEwan University Griffins for two years, graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Arts in English and will be attending St. Mary’s University in the fall in the Bachelor of Education program.
She is really looking forward to working with a great coaching staff and a great group of athletes this season!

FLORIN CRACIUN – Assistant Coach

I have been around the game of volleyball for an extended period of time, both as a professional player as well as a coach.

My professional player career was spent playing in Romania, between 1989 and 2003, highlighted by a championship win in 1993 and runner ups in 1994 and 1996. Throughout this period, my team also participated in several European Cups, playing against different clubs around Europe.

I graduated from National Academy of Physical Education and Sport Bucharest, Romania in 1996, with specialization volleyball. My coaching career began in 1998 and continued until 2003. During this period I coached U13-U16 boys club volleyball.

In 2003, we moved to Canada where after a few years, I continued to be involved in coaching with Elite West Volleyball Club – as assistant coach from 2007 to 2015 (U16-U18-boys).

  • Canadian 18U National Championship: 5th Place Div.1 Tier 1


  • Alberta 17U Provincial Championship: GOLD medal

BLAIR MCDERMID – Assistant Coach

Blair played volleyball at the University of Calgary and then went on to play with the Canadian Men’s National Team. In addition to his technical and tactical knowledge, Blair’s energy and enthusiasm for the competitive and fun spirit of this game will be an enormous support and asset to this team of athletes and coaches.

DANA LOUGHEED – Assistant Coach

Dana joins 403 Selects as an avid volleyball enthusiast, having played club for the Dinnies in Calgary for 5 years.  She was selected as a national level all-star setter and played for Alberta for several years.  Dana then went on to play as the starting setter and captain for Queen’s University.

At Queen’s, Dana earned her Bachelor of Physical and Health Education and her Bachelor of Science degrees.  Dana then obtained her Doctor of Chiropractic in Toronto and has been in private practice for 18 years, promoting family wellness.

Dana has a passion for and special training in pediatric care.  Her passion is to help foster the development of strong, talented athletes, without sacrificing physical well-being.  She is excited to help support 403 in that common goal and in ensuring the girls are in a challenging but supportive team environment!

Dana is a level one volleyball coach, and has a wealth of experience working with kids both professionally and as a coach in various capacities.
